The German School in Cologne is centrally located at the edge of the down town area. A short walk will take you to the cathedral and the picturesque historic district. Your lodgings, train station or airport are all just a short subway or rapid transit train ride away. In the Cologne school most of the classrooms are air conditioned and there is a media resource centre at your disposal. The school has a cafeteria, alternatively there are numerous, reasonably priced restaurants nearby. German teachers are all qualified to teach German as a foreign language.

German for Life course

The German for Life Course is a moderately priced long-term group course, identical in content with our Standard German Course, but offered for longer durations. These courses are popular with Gap Year students and students that have several months spare to learn German.

Combined course

Students follow the Standard German course and have an extra 5 or 10 private lessons each week depending on how intensive a course they desire. Perfect for students that want the diversity of a group course but would like a few private lessons to focus on a specific area of the language, topic or exam.

Private tuition

20, 25 or 30 private lessons per week. Lessons can be tailored to the needs and requirements of the students, to a particular subject or focusing on a specific exam. Students can have private lessons on a 2 to 1 basis providing they are of a similar ability.

German TestDaf Preparation course

This 4 week course has been specially designed to prepare students for the exam format and the precise demands of TestDaF. Students learn a range of strategies and techniques to help them deal successfully with the tasks and challenges of the exam and work with model exam papers to give students ample practice. On completion of the course, the exam can be sat at the school.

Accommodation

Host Family

You will be housed in an apartment or in a house with a yard with a family, a couple or with a person living alone. Your hosts are residents of Cologne who happily rent their furnished room regularly to our course participants from all over the world. Single rooms can be reserved with breakfast or half-board. During your stay, you will have ample opportunity to speak German with your hosts, and to get to know the German way of life. Distance to the school: 15-45 minutes by public transport.

Shared Apartment

In a shared-apartment arrangement, you will be provided with a furnished single room of your own. You will share the kitchen and bathroom with your fellow residents and prepare your own meals. In a shared apartment, you will have contact with fellow students of German courses and an opportunity to speak German, and yet you can move about freely and independently and may come and go as you wish. You are responsible for keeping your own accommodations clean.

Distance to the school: 15-45 minutes by public transport.

Transfer

A transfer service from Cologne or Dusseldorf airport or station to your accommodation is available at an extra cost. Alternatively we can provide you with advice on travel.
