French school in Annecy
The French language school is Annecy is located 2 minutes from the town centre. The school shares it's building with a French school of management. Classrooms are spacious and well lit, each fitted with TV, DVD recorder, CD player and tape recorder. The building has free WIFI. There is an internet/computer room and students have free access to newspapers and magazines. Students are free to borrow books and DVDs.
There is no canteen at the school but there are vending machines with sandwiches. Microwaves are available to heat up meals and then students may sit down at a table to eat. There are restaurants and snack restaurants next to the school and the town centre is only a short walk away.

The school in Annecy was inspected by EAQUALS in July 2013 and met the high standards required for EAQUALS accreditation. The teaching, the course programmes, as well as the course organisation, the learning resources, testing and evaluation were all judged to be of high quality. It was found that the institution takes great care to protect the welfare of its clients and staff, and all publicity materials produced by the institution are accurate and truthful.
IALC International Association of Language Centres
The schoool in Annecy was inspected by IALC in November 2015 and met the high standards required for IALC accreditation. Founded in 1983, the International Association of Language Centres brings together independent language schools known for the quality of their teaching.
These schools teach the official language of their country, and therefore offer total immersion courses for foreigners. Learning a language where it is spoken is the most effective way, and probably the most rewarding way to improve language skills quickly.

Standard course
The Standard French course is more popular with students. Students who choose the standard intensive course also want to have time to discover the culture and enjoy activities like skiing, hiking etc. The minimum stay is one week.

Intensive course
The Intensive French course is a full-time course during your week. It is ideal for students who stay only for a short period. Usually, students from this program study during all the day and enjoy evenings and weekends with activities and friends.

Combined courses
Standard French lessons in groups + private one to one lessons
Combine the French Standard course with one-to-one lessons to improve specific issues and particular points with a teacher. You can focus on vocabulary, grammar difficulties, DELF DALF exam preparation or challenge yourself on specific conversation topics.

Accommodation
Host Family
This type of accommodation is ideal if the student wants to discover the French way of life and improve their conversation skills.
- Facilities: single room with a bed, wardrobe, table or desk with a chair. The students share the bathroom and living area with the rest of the family.
- Meals: Breakfast or half-board. Students can not use the kitchen to prepare meals.
- Laundry: one load of laundry is included once a week.
All host families are located in the town centre or on the outskirts. They are all reachable walking, cycling or by bus within 10-30 minutes (depending on distance and means of transportation used).
Shared apartments
Must be booked per month, students want to stay for less than 1 month will still have to pay for the full month.
Students who want to have independence, live with other students and cater for themselves can stay in a shared apartment.
- Facilities: Single bedroom furnished with bed, wardrobe, desk and chair.
- Students share the kitchen & bathroom with other students. Crockery provided.
To encourage communication in French, we try to place students with different mother tongues in the same apartments.
'Romains' Student residence
Available year round - For students under 30 only.
Must be booked per month, students want to stay for less than 1 month will still have to pay for the full month
The residence is situated approximately 15 minutes by bus from the school . 'Romains' was completely renovated in 2012. It offers 64 rooms of 12m² with sink, shower, toilet; access to internet is possible at an extra charge.
Each room has: 1 desk + 1 chair, closet with shelves, closet, shower and sink. Rooms have their own bathroom with shower , toilet and washbasin.
The room is cleaned by the student, rooms are inspected regularly.
There is a shared kitchen on each floor and an adjoining room for dinning.
'Evires' Student residence
Available in summer only
Must be booked per month, students want to stay for less than 1 month will still have to pay for the full month
The residence is situated approximately 25 minutes by bus from the school. There are 150 furnished rooms of 14m ². Each room has a bed, desk, chair, bookshelves, large closet, bathroom cabinet, and washbasin. Showers and toilets are upstairs, shared with 3 other rooms.
'Les Marquisats' Students Residence
Available all year round
'Les Marquisats' residence is situated at approximately 20 minutes by bus from the school. There are 66 rooms, all have a bed, desk and wardrobe with a private bathroom.
There is the possibility to book single or double rooms.

Activities
After school and during the weekend, students have plenty of opportunities to take part in activities organised by the school. All year long, our dedicated team offers students the best events and activities around Annecy . The school in Annecu firmly believes that taking part in cultural events and sports activities gives the student the opportunity to experience everyday language. It is one of the best way to learn French faster and with more ease. The school also works with Annecy theater Théâtre Bonlieu.
Summer Activities
Summer and spring are a good period to start learning French, especially in our Annecy! The school is ideally situated in the French Alps where mountains and lakes offer opportunities to enjoy nature and to practice many summer sports like hiking and to swim in the lakes. Students enjoy going out after school to participate in cultural activities and festivals during their summer programme.
Winter Activities
Learning French during a winter break and enjoy skiing after school is the reality of our students. Skiing is the most enjoying activity, but winter in Annecy offers plenty other possibilities.

Preparing for your trip
Your Arrival
Whether you are staying with a family or in an apartment, you will need to contact your family or landlord in advance to let them know when you will be arriving. The phone number will be on your confirmation letter. if you would like to book a transfer which will bring you directly to your accommodation please let us know in advance.
Visa

Please note that the French visa can not be changed once you're in France.
Health Insurance
Students have the opportunity to subscribe to a medical and liability insurance. Further information is available from the school office. European Union citizens should have their European Health Insurance Card with them.
Money
No need to withdraw a lot of cash before our arrival. You will find lots of ATM machines everywhere in the city and around the school.
Housing Insurance
If you will be staying in an apartment you will need to be covered by a housing insurance. Please ask your personal insurance for more details. In case you need to suscribe to a housing insurance we can halp you with that once you arrive in Annecy.

Your first day
Students should report to the school by 8:15 am on the first day for a brief presentation of the school. Throughout the day they will have an information meeting, school presentation, guided tour of the town and a welcome drink.
Example of first day timetable:
08:15- 09:00: Welcome speech and presentation of the school
09:00 -12:20: Courses or visit of the town if courses take place in the afternoon
12:20 - 13:30: Lunch break
13:30 - 16:50: Courses or visit of the town if courses take place in the morning.
Students who didn't sit the placement test before arrival will sit an oral test at 09:00am and join their groups either in the morning or the afternoon according tot the timetable.
Students taking the 40 lessons course will attend the meeting at 08:15 and then they will join their groups in the morning and afternoon. 40 lessons students won't have the visit of the town.
Student Card
Student cards offer many advantages and discounts(museums, theatres, bicycle hire, bus tickets, restaurants, activities and more). We only need one ID Photo and students can received their student card free of charge on the same day.
